Warum soll das Kunst sein?

Nur ein sehr enger Kreis von Insidern stellt keine solchen Fragen.

Ich hasse die Avantgarde. Wenn ein derart selbstironischer und selbstreflexiver Künstler wie Yuri Albert solch eine Aussage über Kunst trifft, dann sind Zweifel angebracht. Wie seine gesamte Serie Elitär-demokratische Kunst spielt auch dieser Werktitel bewusst mit einfachen Bejahungen und Verneinungen und rückt zugleich das Rezeptionsdilemma der Serie ins Bild: Ein (Groß-)Teil der künstlerisch vorgebildeten Betrachter sieht die Arbeiten in Stenografie als abstrakte Formen, ohne den Text zu verstehen, und nur die wenigen, die (russische) Stenografie lesen können, nehmen einen Text wahr, der für sie jedoch nicht zwangsläufig Kunst sein muss.

Ich hasse die Avantgarde entstand 2017 nach einer Skizze von 1987 als Reaktion auf eine veränderte Rezeptionssituation der nonkonformistischen Kunst. Mit Beginn der Perestroika konnte die inoffizielle Kunst, die bislang aus dem staatlichen Kunstbetrieb, d.h. aus der offiziellen Infrastruktur von Museen und Ausstellungsräumen sowie aus den Diskursen von Kunstwissenschaft und -kritik ausgeschlossen war, plötzlich in größeren, öffentlich zugänglichen Ausstellungen gezeigt werden....
