Emma Bowkett

is Director of Photography at the FT Weekend Magazine. Joining in 2009, she was integral to the small creative team who reworked the visual language of the magazine for the 2010 ­re-launch. Emma has curated exhibitions for the Triennale der Photographie Hamburg, Peckham 24 in London and in 2018 co-curated the PhotoEast festival. She is a visiting university lecturer, and regularly participates at international portfolio reviews, festivals, art fairs, and awards. She is part of Magnum Photos ­Professional Practice, which supports young and emerging photographers. She won the inaugural Firecracker Contributors Award, which recognises women who have had a substantial impact on the photography industry, voted for by professional photographers. Emma is the co-curator for a Financial Times special supplement and day of events as part of Photo London. Emma has a Masters degree in Image and Communication from Goldsmiths University London.

Donatien Grau

ist Autor mehrerer Bücher. Er hat gemeinsam mit der Galerie Azzedine Alaïa die Ausstellung Pierre Guyotat, la matière de nos oeuvre (April–Juni 2016) realisiert und ist Herausgeber einer Pierre Guyotat gewidmeten Sonderausgabe von Critique (2016). Im Oktober 2016 erschien ein Buch mit Gesprächen zwischen Pierre Guyotat und Donatien Grau unter dem Titel Humains par Hasard.

Kieran Long

is a curator, writer, teacher, and broadcaster from London. He is currently Director of ArkDes, the national museum of architecture and design in Stockholm, Sweden. He was previously Keeper of the department of Design, Architecture and Digital at the Victoria & Albert Museum and has worked for the Royal College of Art, the BBC, the Evening Standard newspaper, and as editor of several design and architecture publications.

Tom McCarthy

ist Generalsekretär der International Necronautical Society, einem semi-fiktiven Avantgarde-Netzwerk, und hat zahlreiche Erzählungen und Essays veröffentlicht. »8½ Millionen«, sein erster Roman, erhielt 2008 den Believer Book Award. Seine Romane »C« (2010) und »Satin Island« (2015) standen auf der Shortlist des Man Booker Prize. Er lebt in Berlin.

Oliviero Toscani

was born in Milan in 1942 and studied photography and design at Kunstgewerbeschule of Zurich from 1961 through 1965. He is internationally renowned as the creative force behind some of the world’s most successful brands, through the years creating what have become some of the most famous corporate images and advertising campaigns. His latest projects include collaborations with the Italian Red Cross and the UNHCR, as well as campaigns dedicated to improving road safety, fighting anorexia, combating violence against women. After six decades of publishing innovation, advertising, film, and television, Toscani now deals with creativity applied to various communication media, producing, with his studio and with Fabrica, editorial projects, books, television programs, exhibitions, and workshops.

Donatien Grau (Hg.), Christoph Wiesner (Hg.): After the Crisis

After the Crisis offers a platform for discussions between some of today’s leading artists, writers, theorists, curators, and historians aimed at questioning the very status of photography today. Contributors come from the realms of critical theory, fiction,  performance art, fashion photography, and museums, as well as film and design, and their conversations bring together history and the contemporary. Comparing the current situation of photographic images with the crisis experienced by representation at the time of the birth of photography, they set our relationship with photographic images in the digital era in perspective. Through these discussions, we come to sense the existential burden of being surrounded by images, while also beginning to grasp the historical depth of a questioning of images that started long before the current generation and engages with crucial political and cultural issues of our time.
