Vier Faktoren sind leitend für das Bild, das sich eine heutige Gesellschaft von der Kunst macht. Zunächst ist da die Vorstellung eines kreativen inneren Willens, Kunst zu schaffen. Dazu kommen äußere Vorgaben, die es erlauben, ein Kunstwerk als ein solches zu erkennen, die die Kunst rahmen, um ihr so eine Identität zu verleihen.
